Ceramic Handmade Tile Installations

In May of 2021, I shipped a set of tiles to Wyoming so they could be installed in a kitchen there. In April of 2023, I got an email from the person who ordered them, explaining that they had to move unexpectedly but they brought the tiles along so they could install them in their new bathroom in Minnesota! As I have mentioned before, occasionally a customer will install my tiles in their home, then move, then order more tiles to install in their new home. As you can imagine, this makes me very happy! This client previously installed my tiles in her bathroom years ago. Recently, when she moved from Oregon to California, she decided to order more tiles from me. This time around, she went with a slightly different mix of designs and glazes and had them installed in her kitchen, as well as both her bathrooms! I have been using autumn glaze for almost 20 years and I love the warmth and richness it brings to a space, as well as how it harmonizes with wood and other natural materials. This kitchen is a great example of that! The backsplash was installed by the homeowner's daughter and I am impressed by what a good job she did. Tile installation photos! Did I say it feels like Christmas whenever I get customer installation photos? It also feels like my birthday. And that was especially true when I received these lovely photos a couple of days ago, on my actual birthday. It is an especially fun coincidence because this hearth just happens to be decked out in a celebratory pompom garland! The tiles are glazed in watercolor blue, but the color is lighter than usual because the client requested a lighter version, which I was happily able to achieve by applying only a single coat of glaze instead of...

It always feels like Christmas to me when I get customer installation photos, and that is especially true today with these pictures! So glad Santa and Mrs Claus seem to approve of this snowy scene.There is a set of four tree tiles in both corners of this kitchen backsplash. The subtle colors and design layout work very well. In all likelihood, my work will never be in a museum, but this feels like the next best thing! I'm thrilled to know that some of my tiles are installed inside "The Royal Exchange" in London, at the swanky new restaurant "The Libertine" which recently opened in the vaults below the landmark, historic building The current structure was opened by Queen Victoria in 1844, but the original exchange was founded in 1571 on this very spot! This tile installation has become a record a family's history, because every member of this family got to pick out a tile for the hearth! I especially love that the 4 and 5 year old granddaughters carefully selected the mermaid and unicorn tiles. Why not have a few magical creatures in the mix? It totally works! The homeowner told me that whenever they come to visit, they always go to the hearth find "their tile." How sweet! Here is a close up of some of the tiles before they were installed.
