It is always a thrill to receive customer installation photos! This recently completed kitchen back splash installation features our 6"x6" "Tree of Life" handmade tile, framed by a square of marble tiles over the stove top:   The glaze used for the tree tile is slightly different than our normal white glaze. The homeowner wanted something with a warmer tone to match the rest of the tiles. Fortunately we had a glaze on hand that fit the bill. It may be hard to see the subtle color difference from these photos, so samples of this version of white glaze are...

This delightful installation of 3"x3" Mayfly tiles in "Leaf Green" glaze is located in the United Kingdom.  Mayflies have special significance for this family, so they decided to pay homage to them with their back splash design. They asymmetrical layout of the art tiles implies that the mayflies are in flight. Here is a slightly closer look: There was an unexpected size difference between the British made gray field tiles and the U.S. made art tiles. The homeowners managed to work around it with some clever and careful cuts, and the results are beautiful.  Thank you so much, S.D., for...

There is an emphasis on hand- crafted details in this high-end kitchen. The homeowners decided to frame a herring- bone pattern above the cook top....    .... and installed a 2"x2" Bee tile in each corner of the frame!     Thank you, T.O., for sharing your pictures! Last week, my dear friend, Mandi brought some art materials over to my house so we could catch up with each other while we both worked. (Craft dates are so fun! Note to self: I need to hang out with more local artists.)  She shot some footage with her iphone of me working, then she quickly edited it into a tiny video for me. What a sweet thing to do; she is a solid gold friend. Here I am sculpting my oak leaf design into the 3"x3" size:   This video makes me realize Darrell and I could make some more short videos of different parts of the tile making process. I had been avoiding videos,...

18 new tiles have just been added to the online store. Rather than list each and every one here, I decided to add a new category for them. It is called "New!"  From now on, when I add a new tile to the store, I will put it into the "New!" category temporarily. (New tiles will appear in other, permanent categories, as well.) Here are pictures of some of the current batch of new tiles: The tiles pictured above also appear in another recently added category: "1 by 6 inch tiles"   The heron tiles pictured above are listed in...

I sent out the first of my new rooster and bee tiles four short days ago, so I am surprised and delighted that I just received pictures of some of them installed. That was fast! This a great tile layout for a kitchen. I love how the slate wall tiles extend onto the counter in stripes. (more pictures below) The cinnamon glaze on the art tiles plays off the reds & browns in the stone. These designs have significance for the homeowners; a rooster and bee are historical symbols of the town in which they live. This local connection makes the installation...

Insects are fascinating and beautiful. As a child, I spent many hours by myself observing them in remote corners of the playground & backyard (obviously, I wasn't a popular kid!) As an adult, I will be the first to admit that I don't like it when any sort of creepy- crawly gets into my home. Living insects belong outside, not on my walls! But insect art is a completely different story. More is better, as far as I am concerned. So of course I love this bathroom, with all of its charming & friendly little bugs: First picture: 2"x2" Ladybug...
